Our hearts beat with the force of rumbling drums.
Walking is just another dancing step
Swaying our hips in sync with ocean waves,
We hug and kiss our people when they come and go
Don't judge us for being so expressive; it is in our blood.

Our parties can be measured on the Richter scale
We come in every color: black, white, brown and pale
We are straight, gay, transgender, and who cares!
We are caring and loving as a warm sunny day
We are feisty and forceful as thunder in May

We cry hard, and we laugh harder.
We are witty and resourceful.
We are gatherers and hunters.
We are loyal and hard workers.

Our mothers are Mami,
Our fathers are Papi.
Family is everything; everything is family!
Nobody touches mi gente! Y mis hijos son sagrados!
Our tribe is sacred, but everyone can enter.

Our debates are lively, and disagreements can be intense
But nothing that can't be fixed over cafecito and a croquette
The smell of Mami's cooking makes everything okay!
Papi is the storyteller; he is our wise old man!
Tias and Abuelas also have a special place,
Peacemakers and confidants, they hold the binding thread.

We are mothers, wives, and tia abuelas,
A loyal friend till the end
No nos llamen chismosas,
but can appreciate a good chisme!

We invite our hand gestures to partake in all debates
We speak with different accents, is the rhythm of our tongue
Spanish is our language; it's the language of our love.
We are thoughtful and loud;
We are Latinas, and we are proud
Merengue is in our veins, and Salsa is in our souls
We are shy and reserved, with the heart of a León.
With immigrant stories of struggle and resilient,
Doctors, Teachers, entrepreneurs, Journalists, Artists, Bankers, CEOs, and Engineers

Soy Hispana, Soy Latina, and you will hear my voice!
